Deformed! During the month of November, late frosts at crucial times in lilies' growth, has caused deformities in the developing buds. Here this floret has opened showing a distortion of petals, and no stigma or anthers. It is in effect sterile. Some buds have not even developed to this stage as can be seen in this picture. This lily is 'Rosepoint Lace' and was very beautiful last year. Better luck next year! |
